Descriptions-ARMY CADET FORCE
The School hosts a detachment, (No23 St Bede’s) of Sussex ACF.
Training follows the APC (Army Proficiency Certificate) Syllabus and is similar to basic infantry training. Subjects include Drill, Skill at arms, Shooting, Fieldcraft, Expedition Training, Military Knowledge, First aid and Map&Compass. Cadets who follow this Syllabus also meet the criteria of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and senior cadets can also enrol for the GNVQ in Public Service.Students joining the activity must also join Sussex ACF. A Parental Permission form must be returned to us and a charge of £10 covers insurance for the duration of the Cadet’s career, and allows the issue of a set of uniform. Cadets will also need to purchase a pair of black boots. There are normally about 6 weekend camps in the year (costing£14 each) which cadets can attend with the rest of the Company. There is also a two week Annual camp for the County which costs £75. These provide the best opportunities for training and testing, and are also very enjoyable.
