Andrew swims his way to a sub 60 second record at Cambridge Open Meet

The St Bede’s squad travelled to Cambridge to take part in the City of Cambridge Swimming Club’s Open Meet. There are several time barriers in the swimming world and seemingly one of the more difficult is to go under 1 minute for the 100m freestyle – certainly of late, that would apply to Andrew Horsfall-Turner (age 14) as he has come agonisingly close on a number of occasions. This would finally be his weekend as he finished the race in a time of 59.96 to a roar of approval from the St Bede’s supporters. Ben Jones (14) out of the news for a little while, has been training hard and is showing signs of returning form as he took medals this weekend.
