Another Lam Victory
On the 9th October Adam Lam attended the U13 England Gold Badminton Tournament in Harlow, Essex. Adam a St Bede’s Prep School Pupil is part of the England’s World Class Start Potential Programme (WCSP) and is currently ranked number two in the country.
His victory this weekend has seen him push ever closer to that top ranking as he qualified with ease from his box and had to play his doubles partner in the quarters to take him to the semis. Adam beat the partner he will play with in future weeks 21-13 and 21-15.
Reaching the semi final meant returning on the Sunday to finish the competition. The semi final saw Adam play England U13 number one Harry Askey, a player that Adam had lost to in the semi final at the last competition in Bath less than a month ago. Adam lost the first game 13-21 but came back to win the final two games 21-13 and 21-15. This was a fantastic achievement having lost the first game.
To claim gold Adam had to beat Max Flynn from Berkshire in the final. In the toughest match so far the St Bede’s pupil went on to win gold winning 21-17, 18-21 and 21-19.
Adam also won Silver in the Mixed Doubles having been unbeaten in their box with partner Kirby Ngan. They qualified for the final and sadly lost to England’s number one pair 17-21and16-21.
