Breaking new Ground
St Bede's Boys 1st team Hockey travelled to St Georges Weybridge on Wednesday and, having never before played one of the power house schools in Surrey, were not sure what to expect.
With some sublime hockey being played once again by the St Bede's boys in the 1st half, St Bede’s found themselves 4-0 up at half time, to a stunned St Georges’ coach and crowd. Four brilliantly worked goals by Michael Cosma (2) and Henry Adelston (2) had sent shockwaves through the opposition and at half time they must have feared the worst.
St Bede’s made some changes at half time, as they have a large squad, and St Georges came out firing. Within 5 minutes of the start of the 2nd half St Georges scored from a penalty flick (4-1). St Bede's hit back almost immediately through Michael Cosma who thus secured his hat trick (5-1). St Bede's then rested on their laurels and conceded 3 more goals late in the game to finish with a brilliant 5-4 win against one of the top schools in the area.
