Chinese New Year assembly
On Friday 23 January St Bede's Prep School took on the flavour of the Far East as its Chinese and Korean pupils led an assembly celebrating the start of The Year of the Ox. The children had worked hard making a traditional Chinese dragon which danced into the Theatre at the start of the celebrations. A selection of pupils told the school about the history behind the New Year, taught children (and staff!) to say Happy New Year in Chinese and Korean, and even bowed to the Headmaster, Mr Bevington, giving him special New Year blessings. Mr Bevington returned their blessings by giving them a traditional gift of money in a red bag; the children really appreciated this - even if the money was only chocolate coins!
