The annual Continental Evening was once again a great success, with students and staff from every corner of the globe coming together to produce a wonderful show and some exciting food.

The kitchen was run under the fine stewardship of Mr Newton, helped by a supporting cast of Scott Martin, Didi Norman, Ludovic Humberset. Michaela Fuskova, Max Steimel, Lada Sobaleva, Seb Rast and the incredibly industrious Misako Yamazaki and Hanako Onahara.
The food, this year was the best to date; starting with Japanese sushi, Malaysian satay and Italian bruschetta, followed by Jamaican jerk chicken, Mexican chilli and Chinese spare ribs and finished with a mouth-watering chocolate fudge cake from the USA, sumptuous strudel from Austria and refreshing fruit kebabs. A truly global culinary experienced.

The show itself was compered by the incomparable Michael Coppard, who did a fantastic job throughout, keeping everything flowing.
The first act was a fashion show, arranged by Lesley Biedermann, Chiara Castellini and Laura Storms, highlighting the differences in fashion amongst teenagers throughout the world and also showing examples of traditional dress from Brazil to China via Germany.
Secondly we were given a most breathtaking display of modern dance by our extremely talented street dancers, led by Dorine Mwesiga.
After eating we were eased back into the show with a soothing saxophone solo by Robert Lan, after which he was joined by Won Sik Oh whom he accompanied to the sound of Maroon Five.
The loudest cheer of the evening came for the dance partnership of Ricky Cheng and Won Sik Oh, who together gave us fifteen minutes of synchronised comedy dancing that will stay with us all forever. Once the euphoria had calmed down, we were treated to three fine solo singing performances from Jody Hughes, Emily Wu and Karolina Lebedeva.
The night was rounded off with a rousing performance by the Josh Yang Band. Although Josh himself had to miss the performance through illness, the band pulled together and delivered.
An excellent time was had by all, highlighted by the contented buzz that filtered back to the boarding houses at the end of the evening.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed with everything from planning to decorations to washing-up. We’re all already looking forward to next year.
