Cricket Workshop for Prep Schools

Eighteen lucky students from local prep schools received a cricket master class at St Bede’s senior school, from former Sussex and England cricketer Alan Wells. They were then treated to a question and answer session from current Sussex cricketer and former St Bede’s student Ollie Rayner.

They were given a tour of the school and the chance to experience the fantastic indoor nets in St Bede’s Sports Hall. All of them got the chance to bat against a bowling machine; for many of them this was a completely new experience. After lunch Ollie Rayner took questions from the students, one asking what he thought of the signing by Sussex of the England spinner Monty Panesar.

The pupils then had their photos taken with Alan and Ollie and will receive signed copies of them. They were then taken back to their schools by St Bede’s transport department having had a great St Bede’s experience and no doubt getting very excited about the forthcoming cricket season.
