Dilly captains England team

Dilly Newton, a former pupil of St Bede’s Prep and Senior School, recently captained the Women’s England team at the Euro Hockey Junior Nations Championships.

This event is held every two years at a different location in Europe, and this year the venue was Lille in France. Since leaving the Senior School in 2007, Dilly has been studying Geography at Bristol University where she gained a 2:1 this summer.

England had a successful run in the championships, reaching the final where they lost to Holland 4-1. Despite the loss in the final Dilly was cheered up by winning the prestigious title of Player of the Tournament.

Dilly is currently training three times a week with the GB centralised squad with a view of hopefully making the Olympic team for London 2012.
