Egyptian dance workshop

St Bede’s pupils travelled back in time for an Egyptian feast recently, a feast complete with a range of Egyptian dancing and games. The food was carefully researched by our talented chef, a keen historian himself, and was not only delicious but thoroughly authentic.

Platters laden with lamb, fish, bean salads, and olives were consumed and washed down with beer (non-alcoholic!) and wine (Schloer!). The children put together some fabulous Ancient Egyptian costumes, many of which were home-made and very well researched. Decked in these costumes they also entertained the assembled company with their own Egyptian Dance routines.

Students from Sussex University helped the children choreograph their dances in a special Dance Workshop earlier in the term. After the dancing the children played 'Senet', an ancient Egyptian board game rather like draughts. They also feasted again on honey and date cake, pomegranates and figs.
