England U14 selection for football ace Alex

Old Town Youth football ace Alexander Voice-Joyce was selected to play for the U14 England Independent Schools Football Association side.

Alexander, 12, spent three days in Repton, Derbyshire last week as one of 18 boys representing the south east region and competed in nine matches with more than 150 boys from all over the country.

40 boys were selected to play in a final match from which the England squad of 20 was chosen.

Alexander, who attends St Bede’s Prep School, was the only boy chosen who does not play in an academy or associated with a professional football club.

In August Alexander will attend a four day training camp in Repton where they will play teams from Ireland, Scotland and Manchester United Academy.
