Environmental and land based science course
Pigs - you need to know the technology
As part of their Environmental and Land Based Science course, a group of GCSE students from St Bede's Senior School recently visited Plumpton Agricultural College to tour the pig unit, looking particularly at reproduction and the role of ICT in that process.
This relatively new course provides students with the opportunity to study a wide range of issues of environmental importance and the scientific principles and concepts which underpin them. It allows the students to study a hands-on science, whilst raising their environmental awareness and learning how to reduce their ecological footprint.
The course leads towards the study of Environmental Science at A level and provides a route into a wide range of higher education courses and careers including Conservation, Forestry, Horticulture, Ecology, Marine Science and Biological Research.
