Fanfare for Foodies
Late February we hosted an evening of music and dining. After a sparkling reception the guests went into the Chapel where Fred Dimbleby opened a short concert by playing Andante in F (Bach) on our new digital pipe organ. Staff and friends of the school then took over with a varied programme including oratorio arias, a Brandenburg Concerto and an organ duet arrangement of Sousa’s Stars and Stripes.
After the half hour concert in the Chapel, the guests headed to the dining room where a fantastic three-course meal was served. Each course was followed by a couple of performances from some of our pupils. Olivia Prince-Smith treated us to Rodriguez’s Tango, followed by Ryan Packham’s fantastic rendition of Solfeggietto by Bach. Katya Rogers then gave us The Boy Paganini Fantasia by Mollenhauer and Sally-Ann Wild spellbound the audience when she sang Gershwin’s Summertime. Last – but by no means least – the evening was finished by Hannah Falcone with an accomplished performance of Sonata in G Minor by Eccles.
The standard of playing was incredibly high from all of the students and it was an excellent opportunity for our students to perform at a prestigious event.
