Girls Cricket Success

St Bede’s Prep school girls’ cricket goes from strength to strength as the Sussex girls’ teams are named. Amelia Baron, Polly McCarthy and Charlie Brown have all been named in the Sussex U11 County Cricket Squad. This a great achievement for the girls as it means they will train during the winter months with Sussex at either the Senior School multipurpose hall or at the Prep school itself. Once summer starts the girls will compete in numerous matches against neighbouring counties Essex, Middlesex, Hampshire, Kent and Surrey.

The season will culminate with a final “festival of cricket” at Arundel castle where the girls will get to play on the picturesque senior ground in front of a small crowd over two days.

In the U10 category three of our girls narrowly missed out on achieving places in the U11 aged group, playing with girls a year older than them giving them great experience. Although they didn’t make the full county squad they have been given the opportunity to take part in the regional training at the Prep School sports hall throughout November, December and January this is through invitation only. So congratulations must go to Hope Ball, Lauren Bennett and Ariana Dowse
