Girls Rugby Seven Win County Shield

Although Girls Rugby is a new sport this year the team entered the Sussex County Sevens Tournament on 6th March 2010

The group matches played were very much a learning experience for the team and even though all played exceptionally well they were caught out by lack of experience. It was clear that they progressed well with each game and made it through to the final to win the shield in a dramatic and very exciting game against rival team Eastbourne College. No girl gave an inch and St Bede's came out victorious under fierce contest with Veronica Murray scoring three tries and some outstanding tournament winning tackling was made from the rest of the team. The shield was presented to the team by test match referee Wayne Barnes.

Next term the profile of Girls rugby will be raised and the sport will be open to all year groups; training on a Tuesday and Friday activity time. Please see Mr Jackson if you would like to know more.
