HMS Victory

Year 7 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School recently visited the historic dockyard and HMS Victory in Portsmouth. Much was learnt about the hardships of life at sea in Nelson's navy and the sacrifices the sailors made so that 'Britannia could rule the waves' and be free from the terror of the French Revolution. As well as a guided tour of Nelson's flagship, the pupils saw an original sail complete with shot holes, and had the chance to try their skills at loading and firing a virtual cannon.
