ISFA Round 2 - St Bede's v Highgate

Highgate were St Bede’s opponents in the second round of the Independent Schools Football Association cup.

Determined to keep their 100% winning record in cup competitions, St Bede’s started the livelier of the two teams, keeping possession and passing the ball around the park with ease. But however hard they tried, St Bede’s could not seem to score, allowing Highgate to slowly get into the game towards the end of the first half.

Into the second half and the roles were reversed with Highgate now the dominating team, but still neither team could find that necessary goal.

As the players in both teams started to tire the game became more and more broken and with extra time not yielding any goals it was into a penalty situation.

St Bede’s put all three past the Highgate goalkeeper whilst Highgate missed two. The match did not produce the best football but it was an impressive display of character from both teams and a great cup match.
