Indian experience

Year 4 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School enjoyed an exciting day of practical experiences relating to the traditions of India, as the finale to their study of India.

Many wore beautiful bright clothes including saris for the girls and tunics and trousers for the boys, and they learned to dance to Indian music, Bollywood style, using their hands and eyes to express drama in their story.

A huge thank-you to Mrs Digby (parent of Jack Digby) who so kindly brought in wonderful Indian clothes and artefacts for us to look at as well as a very informative slide show, of life as it is, in India today.

The pupils designed their own ‘Snakes and Ladders’ game which is an original invention of India and then the real highlight of the day was the Indian Feast, a culmination of food ideas from both the pupils and the teachers.

Several of the pupils managed to actively involve themselves in the preparation and cooking of their chosen Indian dish and two prizes were well deserved, Olly Carr for his very tasty naan bread and also Edward Writer for his selection of dishes.

This extremely busy and interesting day calmly ended with the film, ‘Grandpa Chatterji’ which is the present Year 4 Class Reader.
