Informal Concert lightens the day.
The latest in our series of informal concerts took place on Monday 9th May. X4 was filled with both an enthusiastic audience and bright sunshine as a mix of experienced performers and some nervous first timers entertained us with a typically St Bede's variety of numbers.
Sophie Booth expertly played a movement from a Bach 'cello suite, then, singing solo for the first time, Karolina Lebedeva sang I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables. Dorine Mwesiga and Yasha treated us to two songs and Oli Callaghan played an unusual guitar piece. He used both the strings and the body of the guitar to create percussive effects, with much of the activity taking place on the fingerboard.
Simon Au Yeung then played Chopin's last piano Prelude with great bravado and impressive musicianship. After Tom Widdecombe's beautifully played violin piece, we were treated to Luther Vine playing the first movement of Haydn's Trumpet Concerto.
St Bede's Barbershop then rounded off the evening with three songs, Blue Moon, Always on my Mind and Wonderful World with soloists Harvey Brown and Oliver Hermann.
