Insect Invasion
Butterflies, beetles, moths, ants, crickets, snails, ichneumon fly and a parasite invaded the grounds of St Bede’s Senior School recently, to flit along the grassy banks of the lake and forage in the woods. Young actors from Chyngton Youth Academy of Arts and Drama brought their insect characters to St Bede’s to make a short film introducing ‘The Insect Play’ (an amateur production by Josef and Karel Capek), which they are performing on the Brighton Festival Fringe in May. Ticket hotline: 07791 081935. Idyllic spring weather added to the fun and excitement of making a professional film in the School’s beautiful grounds.
St. Bede’s sponsor The Academy, which offers Art and Drama to children aged between six and 18 and has over 90 members. It is an inspirational source for aspiring thespians and artists in the local area and focuses very much on teamwork and learning how to develop effective ways of working together to achieve a common goal.
