James' England call
St Bede's 1st XI striker James Norwood has just received his England call. He is off to Villarreal for training camp in February and during March and April will be part of the England Schoolboy squad representing their country in internationals against Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
James heard he had made the squad following six stages of trials culminating at Lilleshall in early January. Also in the offing for him are trials with both Brighton and Birmingham.
Now in the UVIth at St Bede's, James who also attended the Prep School, is studying Business and BTEC Sport. He also plays for Eastbourne Town and has represented the Independent Schools' England team on several occasions.
Says James: ‘I am obviously very excited by everything that is happening at the moment. I am very lucky, but most of all I am very lucky because of the fantastic coach I have had here at St Bede's. Mr Leggett has backed me all the way, he is a very positive coach who has really built my confidence. It is pretty much down to him'.
