Jarod Hardcastle
During November and early December 11-year-old Jarod Hardcastle from St Bede’s Prep School along with two friends (both also eleven years old) conceived, wrote, presented, filmed and edited an entry for the Ashdown District Scouts Inaugural Film Festival. There was no brief from the Scouts – just ‘a film with at least one scout involved’.
The festival was held in Uckfield on Saturday 23rd January and there were five entries from which Jarod and his friends emerged victorious. Jarod, Jasper and Eliza gave a brief but well thought-out presentation to introduce their film, which was the only documentary entered. When announcing the winner, the Scout Leader said ‘to say I was blown away by the winning entry would be an understatement’.
