Junior Enterprise

Four members of Year 4 at St Bede’s Prep School participated in the recent 'Junior Enterprise Challenge', organised by the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership.

The aim of the event was to raise young people's awareness of business and marketing, as well as to help develop financial and problem-solving skills.

Aron Swanepoel, George Lewis, Phoebe King and Oscar Endean (known as the 'Wildcats') were asked, along with the other teams, to help design marketing and promotional materials for an 'Eastbourne Carnival'. The group worked superbly together, gaining praise for their teamwork from the business mentors there. What made the event more exciting was that Eastbourne is actually planning to re-start a Carnival next year; and the local council are planning to use some of the ideas raised at the event to help them.

Local MP Stephen Lloyd came to help the judging, helped out by local business leaders and Barnaby Bee - the mascot for the Carnival. The children worked very hard, but enjoyed the morning - and learnt a lot from it.
