Katherine is South-East Regional Champion!

As the second weekend of the South-East Regional Age Group Swimming Championships loomed, the pressure was on for Katherine Horsfall-Turner (age 10) from St Bede’s. Lying in second place overall after the first weekend, Katherine knew that she would have to produce a first rate swim in the 200m Butterfly if she was to gain the title.

Katherine certainly did not disappoint the St Bede’s crowd as she stormed to victory in a time of 2.51.72 to take the gold medal and the Regional crown. Over the course of the two weekends, Katherine proved herself to be a fantastic all-round swimmer as she also took gold medal for the 800m Freestyle, silver medals for the 400m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, bronze medals for 100m Butterfly, 400m Individual Medley and 200m Freestyle.

The rest of the St Bede’s squad (Cristina Richards, Mary Carless, Georgianna Kloos, Rebekah Chapman, Andrew Horsfall-Turner and Ben Jones) were also on form with personal best times falling with practically every swim and in several cases were only just outside the medals.
