Lam Family in Badminton Success
Three St Bede’s students won medals at the U15 Sussex Restricted Junior Badminton Championships in Portslade, Brighton and they are all from the same family! The ‘Lams’, Aaron, Amber and Adam all attend St Bede’s School, Aaron the eldest aged 14 attends the Senior School whilst his younger brother Adam aged 11 and sister Amber aged 12, are pupils at St Bede’s Prep School.
This close family have a passion for badminton and have recently gained much success in their sport.
Their latest achievements include both the boys reaching the semi-finals in the singles at the Sussex Junior Championships and as a doubles partnership clinching victory in the doubles final, which they won 21-10. This was a fantastic result for both of them but especially for Adam as he was playing up an age group.
Amber won all her games in the U15’s girls singles event being crowned Sussex Singles Champions within her age group, winning in the final 21-12. Amber also teamed up with Freya Hodgson in the girls’ doubles and finished runners up in the round robin system.
The Lam family are committed to their sport training twice a week at the Badminton England Performance Centre in Horsham under England coach Tanya Woodward. Amber and Adam are currently on the Badminton England’s World Class Start Junior Program. (WCSP).
