Dance courses
Recreational Dance, Easter and Summer courses and our specialist intensive Legat School of Dance course for more able young dancers. Acceptance for our Legat School where training is more rigorous is by audition and interview only.
Courses are based upon the foundation techniques of classical ballet which prepares students for all dance styles. At the Prep School pupils can audition for the Legat Course, which starts them on the path to a more intensive dance programme with some classes and performances at the Senior School. St Bede's prepares students for GCSE in Performing Arts and Dance. Sixth form students following an intensive two year course with daily dance classes can enter for AS and A Level Dance and prepare for auditions or entry to higher education courses.

Dance classes
Both as recreation or as preparation for a professional career, dance benefits health, poise and social confidence. In addition to the dance studios, a swimming pool and fully equipped gym afford opportunities for complementary training and exercise programmes. At the discretion of the Director of Dance, students can be entered for the Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing examinations. Older students learn Choreography, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Repertoire and Tap. A well as the St Bede's Dance Faculty, specialist dancers, lecturers and teachers are invited from time to time to enhance the training and education for our students.

Creativity and artistry
Choreographic creativity is nurtured by analysis of dance works and attendance at professional performances. Students' own choreographic works are showcased. Master classes and guest teachers from the dance profession provide role models and inspiration.
Stage techniques, theatre etiquette, make-up and hairstyles, presentation and artistry are all part of students' performances. Our Drama and Music Departments give further opportunities to learn about the world of the theatre.

'Joy of Dance' is the prime commitment, whatever the child's age and ability.
