New Director for Legat School of Dance
St Bede’s School Trust is delighted to announce that Patrick Hinson has accepted the role, with immediate effect, of Director of Dance for the prestigious Legat School of Dance – part of the St Bede’s family. During the last year he has impressed all in his role as Deputy Director.
Patrick began his formal dance training at the age of seven, later winning scholarships to study at both the American Ballet Theatre’s school and the School of American Ballet. At 14 he joined Cincinnati Ballet, working with Frederic Franklin, Roman Jasinski Snr and William Dollar.
At 16 he won first place in the international ballet competition held at Butler University of Indiana and by 17 had joined the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine. There followed a short period with the American Ballet Theatre before returning to New York City Ballet. During his performing career Patrick had numerous works created on him, including works by George Balachine, Elliot Feld, William Forsythe, Lar Lubovitch, Peter Martins, Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharpe.
Since his retirement from the stage Patrick has been teaching and working as a Ballet Master in North America, Asia and Europe. As a répetiteur, he has staged works, amongst others, by George Balanchine, Peter Martins and August Bournonville. He has also re-staged and choreographed numerous productions of his own, including full-length productions of The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.
Patrick holds an Associates degree in Arts Management from Marymont Manhattan College and is a regular guest Ballet Master for the Ballet of the National Slovak Theatre.
St Bede’s is also pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth (Lisa) Rae. She will take over the role of Deputy Director of Dance in January. |
