Macmillan Coffee Morning: Record Total Raised

Friday 24th September was the date set by the Macmillan Charity for their National Coffee morning and St Bede’s Prep school was one of the many venues to host the event. It has become a school tradition that Year 4 organise the event and this year they started with a school assembly to explain how the whole school could participate in helping to raise money for this very worthy cause. Cakes were baked and decorated and brought to school by pupils in all year groups and at 9.30am the doors of the dining room opened to a steady stream of parents and friends of the school. Each form had its own set of tables laden with delicious cakes, many beautifully decorated by the pupils themselves. At 11.00am, after the visitors had left, the rest of the school were able to purchase the remaining items.

In 2008 the event raised £430, this rose to £525 last year and this year's target was £600. In the event the final total raised was £637.81, over 20% up on last year and above the target.

Thanks for all their hard work go to Mrs Fuller, Mrs Pavey and Miss Sheriden and for their enthusiastic participation to all the pupils of 4F, 4P and 4S
