Money Sense Talk
Year 5 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School had the opportunity to take part in a ‘Money Sense’ workshop and a talk led by Karen Ticehurst from NatWest Bank. The children experienced a virtual tour of a bank and learnt about the roles of the different areas and departments within the bank. They also learnt about bank accounts, customer services, the difference between a credit card and a debit card and also solved some mental maths calculations.
Some of the pupils queued at a virtual cash machine and took part in various transactions but unfortunately they did not check their balance before withdrawing money and very quickly became overdrawn. Luckily they had an agreed overdraft, therefore they did not incur expensive charges. All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt a great deal about personal banking.
