Musical Pair make the grade!
The achievement of Grade 8 in your chosen instrument or discipline is a fantastic milestone; to gain a distinction or merit is remarkable. And this is exactly what two St Bede’s students have done.
Sophie Rudge gained 130 out of 150 (gaining distinction) for her Grade 8 trumpet examination. The pieces themselves were hugely challenging: amongst them was Hindemith’s Sonata for Trumpet and Piano, being a tour de force of the brass repertoire. Sophie is to be warmly congratulated on her quite marvellous success.
Roger Pezzutto demonstrated autonomy and talent in his Grade 8 flute examination, playing pillars of the repertoire such as Poulenc’s Flute Sonata and Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in D; all works that professionals regard as highly challenging. He is to be congratulated on his achieving a merit in this most testing of exams.
