Netballers Sussex Champions for Second Year Running

Netballers – Sussex champions for second year running

St Bede’s U19A side are Sussex Independent Schools champions for the second year running after convincing victories in their group against, Worth Abbey, Ardingly, Lancing College, Burgess Hill and Mayfield.

They progressed to the semi finals to face a very tall and physical Roedean side. The two teams were evenly matched in athleticism and skill, but the pressure in defence initiated by Bede’s brought the team to victory.

St Bede’s played Hurstpierpoint in the finals, when they dominated from the start to win by a six goal difference.

A few days after winning the championship, the girls added to their titles by winning the Sussex Schools Championship, beating Imberhorne in the final 49-39.

With Captain Makeba Clarke leading the team from the front, Regional representives Jade Barraclough, Pippa Pocock and National player Jehelseal Braithwaite, combined with the outstanding talents of Olivia Bohac, Lauren Allymohamed, Emily Turpin, Amanda Shuttleworth, Becky Quinn and Molly Milton, St Bede’s make a very formidable team.
