New dining room, kitchens and classrooms on schedule for September

Ahead of schedule, our stunning development of new kitchens, dining room and five classrooms is already part of the St Bede’s skyline.

Now that the roof is almost finished, plasterers, carpenters, electricians and plumbers have moved into the building and it is now possible to clearly see the layout of each area.

The new classrooms on the top floor are nothing short of stunning, all with picture windows giving a panoramic view of the sea and eastwards as far as Hastings.

Costing £1million, the building is due to open in September and will provide a wonderful dining room that will also be able to be utilised for other events, including performances and state-of-the-art kitchens.

The five classrooms will be used by Years 7 and 8 pupils who will move out of their current ‘home’ Holywell Mount, to allow the second phase of the project to begin – the £1million refurbishment of Holywell Mount as a self-contained building for the Nursery and Pre-Prep.

From September 2009 St Bede’s Nursery and Pre-Prep will be open 50 weeks a year from 7.45am to 6.15pm, with a stimulating programme of activities provided by specialist staff outside normal school hours and terms.

The move to Holywell Mount means that Nursery and Pre-Prep children will have easy access to our ‘Open Air Classroom’ which is situated in a garden and play area for the sole use of the younger children. Here they have the opportunity to safely explore the great outdoors whether it is ‘bug’ hunting, following nature trails or playing in the miniature cottage.
