Newhaven Fort
Year 5 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School recently visited Newhaven Fort to see for themselves how British shores were defended during the two world wars, as well as seeing displays and objects showing key aspects of pre-war life in Britain. They enjoyed an informative talk about how people coped with daily life during the war, particularly facts about gas masks and air raids. The highlight of the trip for many was in fact an extremely realistic re-creation of being in a shelter during a bombing raid.
