Nursery and Pre-Prep

Welcome to St Bede’s Pre-Prep School and Nursery – situated on the site of St Bede’s Prep School, overlooking the sea. The Pre-Prep is when many children become part of the St Bede’s family, joining those who have been with us in our Nursery, some since they were three months old. At age seven the children move up into the Prep School and at age 13 most move on to St Bede’s Senior School, seven miles away in the heart of the Sussex countryside.
Pre-Prep children can come to school for 50 weeks a year from 7:45am – 6:00pm with a stimulating programme of activities provided by our specialist staff outside normal school hours and terms.
Always an innovative school, St Bede’s exudes energy and purpose and is proud of its heritage that goes back over 100 years.
In February 2010 our Nursery and Pre-Prep moved into its own magnificent house with bright, spacious classrooms – most with sea views. There is also a library, an ICT suite and a music room and from the house the children have secure access to an enclosed playground and our ‘outdoor’ classroom.

Starting school is a very big step in every child’s life (and for their parents!) and at St Bede’s we do everything possible to make this step a happy one. Children quickly settle into the supportive and nurturing environment we offer and are soon beginning the exciting process of discovering and developing their full potential.
We are very lucky that our Pre-Prep & Nursery children have the benefit of all the resources and facilities of the Prep School, which means we can introduce them to a very wide curriculum, with many subjects such as ICT, Music, French, Dance, PE, Swimming and Games being taught by specialist staff.
Liaison between school and home is a very important part of a child’s education. There are daily opportunities to talk to teachers as well as weekly newsletters, end of term reports and parents’ evenings.
