In the Nursery the Children enjoy a careful balance of free play and more directed activities. They begin to develop literacy and numeracy skills as they work with their class teachers, while specialist teachers take the children for music, dance, swimming and optional tennis and French.

They enjoy plenty of exploration of the outside world including free-flow access to our outside area. This includes a garden for climbing, cycling and sliding and a natural garden for bug hunting, den building and art exploration in the sheltered area, all with stunning sea views.

In their final year in Nursery they are taught by a qualified teacher who is able to help develop their skills in preparation for school. Whilst the emphasis is still on enjoyment, having fun and learning through play, some pupils at this stage are ready to start reading and writing which our qualified teacher is able to encourage and develop. These sessions take place in our Transition room which includes the interactive whiteboard found in all our Pre-Prep classrooms. They also start ICT lessons with a specialist teacher in our purpose built ICT suite.
Pupils develop an understanding of the wider world, walking down our lane for trips to the beach, or the park or going to the town library and theatres with the added excitement of riding in one of our mini-buses and enjoying a packed lunch!
