Open air learning
Feasting on fresh air and discovering ‘Bug Land’, Nursery and Pre-Prep children from St Bede’s have returned from the summer holidays to their new Open Air Classroom.
The classroom will be used for both lessons and playtime. Some activities will be teacher led and at other times the children can use their imagination to explore the world around them.
Overhead canopies mean that the classroom come garden can be used for all year round activities. There is a stage for performances, garden beds containing sand, timber and pebbles, ‘Bug Land’ for scientific investigations, a miniature cottage for role-play and a tunnel and mound for hide-and-seek.
The garden/classroom is behind Holywell Mount, the very last building on Eastbourne seafront, and has wonderful sea views. Holywell Mount is scheduled to become the new home of St Bede’s Nursery and Prep in 2010, when the older children move out into brand new classrooms currently being built on the eastern side of the School.
