Pre-Prep & Nursery School Warming
On Friday 7th May St Bede’s held the official opening of Holywell Mount, the new home of the Pre-prep and Nursery.
Parents and friends had the opportunity to look around the totally refurbished building. After months of hard work by the School’s in-house construction team the 1930s building was transformed into a modern, light and airy home for the youngest members of the St Bede’s family.
During the afternoon we were kept entertained as each group put on a performance. We were initially transported to the Wild West as the Pre-Prep’s Yankee Doodle Dance showed us how the cowboys and cowgirls of old relaxed after a hard day in the saddle.
The Nursery then sang Old Macdonald and Round the Village, a choosing game where not everyone wanted to be chosen. This was followed by Year 1 providing a wonderful Ukulele accompaniment to Year 2 and Reception’s enthusiastic performance of Animal Fair. We enjoyed this so much that we were rewarded with an encore.
Reception then danced delightfully to the Swedish Rhapsody, before the Nursery treated us to the tale of The Enchanted Forest.
Throughout the afternoon refreshments, including St Bede’s Cakes and Pre-Prep gingerbread men, were available from the catering dept in the new Dining Room.
The official opening ceremony was performed by Mr Peter Pyemont and Mr Christopher Pyemont, both former headmasters of St Bede’s Prep school. After they jointly cut the ribbon; the whole of the Pre-prep and Nursery were assembled on the steps of their impressive new home for a group photograph., before Year 2 sent us home with Magon the Dragon ringing in our ears. It was a wonderful afternoon to mark a major improvement in the facilities available for our young people.
