Day to Day
A day at St Bede’s Prep written by pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5
‘I am always excited about coming to school because you get to learn all the time.’
‘My favourite day is when we get to go to the library in the afternoon so I can relax and read my book.’
‘It’s assembly today and we can see which section has the most points.’
English
‘We wrote some poems about satsumas and copied them onto orange paper.’
Maths
‘Hooray! I finally learnt a division technique that works for me’.
‘I’m proud of myself. I have got better at fractions and my times tables’.
Break
‘Break is the best because we are allowed to go to the computer room, the library or the playground’.
Science
‘Science is really fun because we get to go to the science labs and do experiments’.
Lunch
‘At lunch I sat next to the Headmaster and now whenever I see him I say hello’.
‘At lunch I love vegetables and vegetables are good for you’.
Library
‘I love the library lesson because my friends and I just lay down and read a book together’.
Art
‘We have been making paper. In the first lesson, we did the messy stuff like shredding paper, put it in a bowl with water and then put it in a blender. Now we have added colour’.
Music
‘We wrote a rhythm on a piece of paper and then played it on a djemba drum. A djemba drum is really fun to play’.
Games
‘We have won our first football game of the season’.
‘My first netball match. We may not have won but at least I enjoyed it and it was a good experience’.
Other important areas of the School are:
School Council
School Council meetings are held every week. The Council is made up of elected representatives from each year group in the Main School (Years 3 – 8), two representatives from the boarding house and a teacher. The council meets weekly to discuss whole-School issues. Throughout the week, pupils write down issues they would like discussed and the year group representatives decide what should be brought to the School Council meeting. Minutes are taken at each meeting and the elected representatives are responsible for communicating between the council and their year group.
