Curriculum Enhancement

Children are assessed on entry and throughout their school life at St Bede’s. Any child who is considered to be gifted in any particular field will be added to our Gifted and Talented Register.

Academically gifted children are put into accelerated learning sets in the relevant discipline, where they are encouraged to work more quickly and in more depth than their peers. Academic scholars are also given the opportunity to study additional subjects, such as Ancient Greek and Spanish. Children who excel at non-academic subjects are put into master classes, which again allow them to develop their skills at a higher level than their peers and to interact with other children of a similar ability at local, county and national level.
