Roger Ravenbeard

Year 4 chose a pirate theme for their play this year which included an annoying but very funny life-size parrot, a ‘do-gooding’ almoner who was liable to be thrown overboard, a very feisty and interfering mother (Mrs. Ravenbeard) as well as two crews of pirates and a tribe of female cannibals! Needless to say, it held Year 4s’ attention extremely well.

Roger Ravenbeard, Scourge of the Oceans (Michael Conyers) was a tremendous success, greatly enjoyed by all who took part and all who watched; this included two school audiences and two parents and friends audiences; many expressed a wish to be able to see it again!

Everyone had a speaking part but there were some extremely challenging roles with regard to the amount of lines to be learned, particularly Roger Ravenbeard, as well as the acting talent required but everyone rose to the occasion and exceeded our expectations. The play included lots of humour which was delivered remarkably well and kept the audience on their toes waiting for the next laugh.

We were delighted to have so much support from our school governors as well as Dr. Maloney (Head of Senior School) who all gave excellent reviews; this added to the rewarding experience that it has been for everyone involved.
