Result Slips - Summer Examinations
a) Result slips may be collected in person, by the pupil or parent, between 10:30am and 1:00pm on the appropriate day. Please inform the school if you intend to call after 1:00pm as otherwise results slips not collected by then will be posted as described below.
b) As a service to candidates and parents, result slips not collected in person will be posted to the address that the school has on file. It is essential that you inform the school of any change of address.
c) As many people are away on holiday at that time of year, results slips may be sent to an alternative temporary address provided that parents request this in by e-mail. Please email the Examinations Manager.
d) Overseas candidates, or UK candidates who do not live within travelling distance of the school, can have the results faxed, or e-mailed, to them. The despatch of faxes/e-mails commences about 10:30am BST and takes some time so please be patient. This service should be requested at least one week before the dates shown above or prompt despatch of the fax/e-mail cannot be guaranteed. For security reasons, faxes and e-mails must be requested at least one week in advance by email to Examinations Manager.
e) We regret that results may not be read over the telephone.
Certificates
Certificates will arrive in school during November. When all certificates have been received from the various Examination Boards, they will be despatched by Recorded Delivery to the address that the School has on file. You should receive the certificates by the end of November. You will need to sign on their receipt. If nobody is available to sign, or the address is incorrect, the certificates are returned to the school. After one year, we have to return them to the Examining Boards OR destroy them. A fee will then have to be paid to obtain another certificate. They should be kept in a safe place as replacing lost certificates is a time-consuming and expensive process.
Re-mark
Contact the Examinations Manager.
If your result differs significantly from what you were expecting, you can ask for a re-mark. This has to be made through, and supported by the School.
This service includes:
- a clerical re-check detailed to ensure marks have been added correctly
- the re-assessment of units/components by a senior examiner
- if requested, a photocopy of the re-checked script(s) for those units/components included in access to scripts
The deadline for requests to be received at School no later than15th September after results day. This will allow time for internal administration to be carried out.
Please note that you will be asked to sign a form stating that you realise that a re-mark may result in a grade being LOWERED, RAISED or REMAINING UNCHANGED.
Fees vary but each paper costs around £40-£50.
Priority Service
This service is offered on a priority basis where all of the following criteria are met:
• the enquiry is about a GCE, VCE or AEA unit (not GCSE)
• a candidate's place in further/higher education depends upon the outcome
• the application is submitted on the Priority Service form by no later than 5:00pm (the 2nd Friday after results day)
Any applications not meeting these criteria will be treated as normal requests.
Please note that all enquiries have to be undertaken by the School. Candidates may not approach the Examining Boards directly.
Access to Scripts
Candidates will be able to request access to their own scripts for general interest or to inform future learning. To do this, contact the Examination Manager by the 30th September. Fees vary, but each script costs about £10. Original scripts will be returned.
GCE/VCE/AEA (not GCSE) candidates will be able to request access to their scripts prior to deciding whether to ask the centre to lodge an enquiry about results. Photocopies of their scripts will be returned. This option is not available to GCSE/GNVQ candidates.
In either case centres will pass the request to the relevant Awarding Body. The Awarding Bodies will not deal directly with individual candidates entered by the centre.
