The aims of the St Bede's School Trust

‘The objects for which the Trust is established are to promote and provide for the advancement of education of children and young persons’

The core aim of the Schools is to prepare students to lead a full and worthwhile life in the wider world as well-rounded, confident and balanced members of their communities

The specific aims of the Trust are:

  • To provide an outstanding education, in a non-selective coeducational environment, for young people. That education is predicated on flexibility for the student; a broad and varied curriculum; personalisation of study programmes; and, respect for students’ choices and aptitudes. In doing so, we aim to maximise the academic potential of every student in every subject area
  • To provide an extensive and exceptional variety of co-curricular activities that allows students to find, nurture and develop their interests and talents. The programme caters for everyone, from elite performers to hobbyists, and no activity is considered more important than another
  • To provide pastoral care that supports and safeguards each student, and in so doing, develops values of respect and humanity within a framework of friendly, non-confrontational relationships between all people, adults and students alike
  • To ensure that a high-quality boarding experience remains at the heart of the School and that children from many different cultures and nationalities are received into the community
  • To place a premium on spiritual values, within a non-denominational context, that affords all members of the school the opportunity to develop a sense of spiritual, moral and ethical awareness and in so doing, come to appreciate their own place in the world
  • To manage our business and assets in the best possible way so that we provide high quality resources and facilities for teachers, students and employees of the trust that allows them to maximise the quality of their endeavours
  • To build links with our wider community so that we use our expertise and facilities to identify and nurture relationships that benefit the whole community and, in particular, create external partnerships with maintained schools, community and youth groups, and other organisations which exist to further the educational experiences of young people
