Food at St Bede's
Energy is key to a happy and active life and food – energy fuel – is taken seriously. Boarding students can start the day with cereal, fruit and yoghurt or they can also have a cooked breakfaste.g. eggs, sausages and bacon.
At lunchtime students have the option of at least three hot meals or sandwiches, soup. pasta or jacket potatoes. Salad and fresh fruit is always available
In the evening boarders enjoy another hot meal and if they are still hungry later on, all boarding houses have their own student kitchen with microwave, toaster and fridge and the girls houses, ovens.
Our new contractors Holroyd Howe are committed to improving the quality of the food at St Bede's. Already we have seen a real difference, with much more extensive use of fresh ingredients, improved presentation and all rolls and sandwiches are now prepared on site. They have used their extensive experience of school catering to re-designe our kitchens and building work will start by the end of September. The temporary dining room , by the Girls' Boarding houses will then be used until building work is finished. They will also cater for all special events such as House dinners, the Sixth Form Ball and of course Christmas dinners.
During morning break and after activities in the afternoon, students can walk down to the village shop and there are various vending machines around the school.
The Menu changes every week to reflect the availability of fresh, seasonal produce.
