Result Slips
a) November, January and March results arrive in school in term time and will be distributed to the candidates via the House system.
Summer Examinations
Result slips may be collected in person, by the pupil or parent, between 10:30am and 12 noon on the appropriate day. Please inform the school if you intend to call after 12 noon as results slips not collected by then will be posted as described below. Candidates who have entries for Cambridge IGCSE exams will be notified separately as to how to access their results on line directly from the Awarding Body's website
b) As a service to candidates and parents, result slips not collected in person will be posted to the address that the school has on file. It is essential that you inform the school of any change of address.
c) As many people are away on holiday at that time of year, results slips may be sent to an alternative temporary address provided that parents request this in by e-mail. Please email the Examinations Officer.
d) Overseas candidates, or UK candidates who do not live within travelling distance of the school, can have the results faxed, or e-mailed, to them. The despatch of faxes/e-mails commences about 10:30am BST and takes some time so please be patient. For security reasons, faxes and e-mails must be requested at least one week in advance by email to the Examinations Officer.
e) We regret that results may not be read over the telephone.
Certificates
Exam certificates (not results slips) from the summer examination session will arrive in school during November. When all certificates have been received from the various Awarding Bodies, they will be despatched by Recorded Delivery to the address that the School has on file. You should receive the certificates by the end of November. You will need to sign on their receipt. If nobody is available to sign, or the address is incorrect, the certificates are returned to the school. After one year, they may be destroyed.
Lost certificates are the responsibility of the candidate. To obtain replacements, an application has to be made by the candidate directly to the awarding body concerned via their website. Certificates should, therefore, be kept in a safe place as replacing lhem is a time-consuming and expensive process.
Re-mark
If an examination result differs significantly from what was expected, a re-mark may be requested. However, this has to be made through, and supported by, the School. Any such requests are therefore forwarded to the academic Head of Subject concerned for their advice prior to an application being made.
This service includes:
- a clerical re-check detailed to ensure marks have been added correctly
- the re-assessment of units/components by a senior examiner
- if requested, a photocopy of the re-checked script(s) for those units/components included in access to scripts
The deadline for completed applications to be received by the Examinations Office is 15th September. This will allow time for internal administration to be carried out.
Please note that you must sign a form stating that you realise that a re-mark may result in a grade being LOWERED, RAISED or REMAINING UNCHANGED before any enquiry about results can be made.
Fees vary but a review of each paper will cost around £40-£50.
Please contact the Examinations Officer
Priority Service
This service is offered on a priority basis where all of the following criteria are met:
• the enquiry is about a GCE, VCE or AEA unit (not GCSE)
• a candidate's place in further/higher education depends upon the outcome
• the application is submitted on the Priority Service form by no later than 5:00pm (the 2nd Friday after results day)
Any applications not meeting these criteria will be treated as normal requests.
Please note that all enquiries about results have to be undertaken by the School. Candidates may not approach the Awarding Bodies directly.
Access to Scripts
Candidates will be able to request access to their own scripts for general interest or to inform future learning. To do this, contact the Examination Officer by the 30th September. Fees vary, but each script costs about £10. Original scripts will be returned.
GCE/AEA candidates will be able to request access to their scripts prior to deciding whether to ask the centre to lodge an enquiry about results. Photocopies of their scripts will be returned. This option is not available to GCSE candidates.
In either case the School will pass the request to the relevant Awarding Body. The Awarding Bodies will not deal directly with individual candidates. For further current information for each Awarding Body, please follow the links:
