Student Travel Co-ordinator
Student Travel Co-ordinator for boarders’ travel arrangements
As part of our endeavours to continually improve the St Bede’s experience for boarders and their parents and guardians, over the last term, we have been reviewing how travel arrangements are handled for the formal Exeat weekends and School holidays. The outcome is that in order to further safeguard boarders who are travelling unaccompanied; to streamline the whole operation of getting students from their homes abroad to School and back again; to offer a smoother and more professional service to all concerned; and to free up valuable time for Boarding Housemasters / mistresses to concentrate on more vital pastoral work, the School has appointed a Student Travel Co-ordinator (STC) to deal with the administration of all unaccompanied travel arrangements from January 9th 2012.
Parents or guardians of all boarders who are travelling to or from School at the beginning or end of holidays or formal Exeat weekends unaccompanied (by their parent or guardian) are required to complete the Student Travel Arrangements Form (which is available for download below) and return it to the STC (contact details are on the form) at least ten working days (two weeks) before the date of travel.
May I also remind you that, at the end of Exeat weekends or holidays, students are requested to return to School between 6 pm and 8.30 pm. At the start of holidays School always finishes at 1 pm and all students are required to leave by 3 pm. For Exeat weekends the departure time is 5 – 6.30 pm.
It is assumed that the students will be spending Exeat Weekends with their parent or guardian. If this is not the case, or if the student is not travelling directly home during the holidays, please provide their Housemaster or mistress with the name and address of the person with whom the student will be spending this leave. It is the responsibility of the parent / guardian to ensure that satisfactory arrangements are made. (Guardians and host families cannot, even for temporary arrangements, be appointed or arranged by the School. AEGIS – the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students - can provide you with a list of reliable local guardianship agencies, as necessary. www.aegisuk.net)
