Swimming
Staff member in charge: Mr Kevin Ayers
Mr Ayers is a full time professional swimming coach who oversees the top scholarship swimmers. Mr Ayers has had swimmers at European Junior level, National Championship level and has coached a number of National Finalists.
Facilities:
- A six lane 25m indoor pool with full changing and showering facilities. A fully equipped gymnasium with top of the range machinery.
Training:
- Our top swimmers have the major benefit of being able to train up to 22 hours per week in a school environment which means finishing at 5:00pm, leaving plenty of time for academic pursuits!
Competitions:
- The School squad competes in Open Competitions, Sussex County, South-East Regional and National Championships.
Achievements 2007/2008 Season:
- The squad were second overall at the Sussex County Championships, winning 29 gold, 23 silver and 14 bronze medals.
- Michael Faber (16) and Alex Jameson (16) competed at the Olympic Trials
- Katherine Horsfall-Turner (10) is overall South-East Regional Champion
- Gold medallists at Regional Level were Katherine Horsfall-Turner (200m Butterfly, 800m Freestyle), Harriet Lambourne (200m Butterfly) and Michael Faber (200m Freestyle).
- Competing at the National Championships 2008 are: Nicholas Ayers, Michael Faber, Alex Jameson, Anthony White, Stephanie Ketley and Harriet Lambourne.
