Photography

Photography is a very popular and successful subject at both GCSE and A-Level. Students are encouraged to use both traditional and digital techniques.

Traditional Photography - film and darkroom methods - is a very important part of the course and many students specialise in this form of the subject. Black-and-white photography, using a variety of types and speeds of film and the subsequent processing and printing of the images is an important part of the GCSE and A-Level courses. Pinhole photography is a popular section of the course with GCSE and pre-GCSE students.

Digital Photography - The department is equipped with two suites of Mac computers using the latest version of photo-manipulation software, enabling students to create their finished photographic work digitally. Students are encouraged to have their own cameras, although the department does have a selection available if necessary. Final pieces, especially exam work, can be printed on our large-format glossy printer.
