Speaking out

Jennifer Whelan, a Year 8 pupil from St Bede's Prep School, came first in the ‘Proposer of the Vote of Thanks' section at the Copthorne Public Speaking Competition. St Bede's Prep School was amongst a number of schools in East and West Sussex which took part in the public speaking competition where their overall position was third. Each team had to follow the protocol of a formal public speaking event with a Chairperson, Main Speaker and a Proposer of the Vote of Thanks. They were all judged on individual presentations of key speeches, protocol, etiquette and teamwork. Congratulations should be given to the whole team: Zara Burtonshaw, Katie Dale, Christopher Pearce, James Baldwin, Jordan Thomas, and Jennifer Whelan. Mrs Gail Brundle, Head of English, is very proud of her team's achievements and is looking forward to them taking part in the national competition next year.
