There is no doubt that cricket at St Bede's is going from strength to strength. The 1st X1 have enjoyed an impressive season, culminating with four consecutive wins.

St Bede's were set 149 to win in 20 overs and won by 7 wickets with two overs to spare; James Johnson top scored with an unbeaten 67 and early, Matt Cooke took 3-17.
Next, City of London were beaten by 208 runs. Runs flowed in this game with Luke Wells smashing 56, James Johnson 72 and Dan Gorringe a magnificent 105 not out. Finally, in some of the players' final game for the School, it was Portsmouth Grammar School who came under fire, with St Bede's scoring 314 for 7 in 50 overs. Luke Wells top scored with 97, aided superbly by James Johnson with 66 and David Anthony with 46. Portsmouth were bowled out for 103, Anthony taking 4 for 2 in what was a great game for him.
1st X1 manager Simon Gough said: ‘This has been a great final week for all the players and I am very pleased with the performances and effort of all the team. It was great to win the Langdale Cup and become Sussex Champions, beating Eastbourne College and Brighton College on the way. This has truly been a memorable season and could not have happened without the vision and determination of Alan Wells, our Director of Cricket, to produce quality players throughout the School'.
Said Alan Wells: ‘This has been a wonderful season, and it has been a great privilege to work with such a wonderful group of players - probably the best in my time at St Bede's. For me, the highlight was the team effort in securing a memorable victory over Eastbourne College in a 50-over game'.
