St Bede's Girls Footballers win the Burlen Cup

St Bede’s Girls Football Team earned an impressive victory in the Burlen Cup Tournament hosted by Sevenoaks School. Despite being a player short and down to ten girls for the whole of the tournament the St Bede’s played an intelligent game to secure victory. Olivia Bohac,Captain, scored a great goal from a swerving corner kick which saw St Bede’s beat cup holders Sevenoaks 1 – 0. Lauren Allymohamed proved an incredible force up front using her pace to un-nerve her opposition’s defence. She had some great shots on target and was it not for the quality of play by the opposition Goalkeeper her efforts would have been rewarded. Ngengo, Cope, Dowse, Black and Barraclough,Vice-Captain, were relentless in defending and quickly closing down any attacking play from the opposition. Barraclough’s link up play with Hatfield and Harvey opened up the opposition's defence on many an occasion and St Bede’s were unlucky not to score a plethora of goals. Rudge was her usual cool and collective self in goal and showed good decision-making especially when called to play more up-field with her outfield players being down to 9.
