Team Of the year

This decision was hotly disputed but in the end it was agreed that the winners should be the U19 Netball.

The Cole Cup and the Janet Cole cup.

These cups are awarded to the boy and girl who have shown both dedication and commitment. They are in their final year and must embody the ethos of St Bede’s School sport.

The Cole Cup

There were three nominations for this trophy and the colours committee had a very difficult choice to make. The first candidate, David Anthony, has had a fantastic season in football, leading the forward line with great distinction. In cricket he plays for the 1st XI and in both sports his approach is both professional and totally committed.

Jordan Turner is an exceptional sportsman who is an important part of two major first teams at school - Cricket and Football. He commits himself fully to each team but has managed his time honestly with the coaches. He has always been willing to listen to his coaches and embodies the ethos that if you continue to give of your best then you will reap the rewards.

Adam Brennan has played in the first team Rugby this year and has been a welcome calming voice in what at times was a difficult year. He is also an exceptional footballer player and has represented St Bede’s at second team level. At third team cricket he is a fantastic role model playing the game in the right spirit and ethos. Adam is our go to man if we are short and need a replacement he is always ‘up for it’. Adam Brennan was the winner of the Cole Cup

The Janet Cole Cup

Of the many girls who have been outstanding ambassadors for the school two were short-listed for the Janet Cole Cup.

Lisa Black has only been here a short time but she has made a distinct impression with her commitment to sport at St Bede’s. Lisa has been a dedicated member of the first hockey team, always willing to help with the organisation and running of the team. She has also achieved her life ambition of playing in a successful U18 Girls football team.

Veronika Murray is an exceptional hockey player who represents School with pride and whilst she is probably not the most naturally talented on the pitch she sets the standard of behaviour and the level of commitment which is required in order to be successful. She also is a valuable team member of netball and first team girls Football. However her true calling came when she encouraged and lead the Girls Rugby team to an epic win over Eastbourne College. Veronica Murray was awarded the Janet Cole cup.

Sportswomen of the Year

The sportswomen of the year award, presented by Sharon Muxworthy, went to Yolanda King. Although only 15, Yolanda is U18 England Table Tennis champion and represents her country at that level.

Sportsman of the Year

The sportsman of the year award, presented by Dr Maloney, went to James Johnson, captain of first team rugby and cricket. An outstanding young sportsman he leads both sides with dignity and flair and never forgets that he is a team player.
